Tina Staley

Tina Staley is a highly accomplished author, therapist, and gifted communicator who has dedicated her life to creating a more kind and productive world. Tina’s vast experience and success in the public and private sector has led to partnerships with top organizations such as U.S. Naval Special Warfare Command, American Cancer Society, Duke Cancer Institute, the Colorado State Government, Boys & Girls Club, PBS World, The Aspen Institute—where she was interviewed by American writer and journalist, Walter Isaacson on the topic of the human side of medicine.

Tina has created innovative support programs for organizations nationwide, in addition to being the founder of Pathfinders, one of the most successful cancer and grief/loss organizations on the western slope of Colorado for nearly 20 years.

On the research side, Tina has contributed to numerous research articles and presentations. Most notably, at Duke Cancer Institute, she guided the intensive research of 50 women facing late-stage breast cancer through the remaining year of their beautiful lives. This groundbreaking study led to one of the first published findings focusing on the mind-body-spirit connection. The resultant quality of life research was the subject of an award-winning documentary called What Love Is, Pathfinders 50, which has been one of the longest-running documentaries in PBS history.

As an author, her award-winning book called Living Fully, Dying Well led to an invitation onto the TedTalk stage where she took a daring, deep dive into one’s willingness to face death and having the courage to live each moment until the last.

Today, in addition to spearheading Kindness in Action, a research-based mindfulness program, Tina runs a successful private counseling practice, and co-leads an innovative program ”The Decade Game: Creating a Life by Design, Not Default," which is the culmination of almost three decades of experience helping others thrive during a life-altering event.

Tina is excited to introduce her latest endeavor, “Being Human—Exploring Self-Doubt, Perfectionism and Vulnerability”

The one theme that continuously arises in my work with others, no matter what their stage of life, health, social economics, education or profession, is the self doubt that we are “not enough.”

Hillary Larson

My background is in media. I had a dream job producing nationally syndicated radio shows in New York first thing out of college. Interviewing celebrities and living the life in NYC, my life looked impressive on the outside. But self-doubt was almost always running in the background, which made for a serious case of imposter syndrome. I tried and failed to outrun my self-doubt in all sorts of ways, from perfectionism to serious addictions. The self-betrayal that went with living that kind of life was both suffocating and exhausting, and in my case, deadly.

Over the course of 35 plus years, I have helped many people along the way who have suffered in similar ways. I know this journey well. It is one of my great passions to show others their way back home.

“I went on a 35 year journey to fix myself, only to find out that when I stopped running that I finally found peace.”

My unwavering belief in the essential goodness of humankind has been reflected in my work in the world of addiction and anxiety and depression. That passion has also included founding a literacy center for gang members and other underserved populations and producing the podcast A Conversation with Gangaji
